The NFB’s app PixStop (free in Canada and $2.99 everywhere else) is designed for ages 10 and up to shoot and score stop-motion animation films up to 13 minutes long. The app includes 3 tutorials to get you started. The app was first launched for the iPad 2 but is now available on many platforms.
This app would be ideal tool for students to use to meet the production expectations in the media literacy curriculum.
Teachers are reminded that they may visit http://www.nfb.ca/explore-all-films/ and use many of the NFB’s vast collection for classroom use. Use the “safe search” function on the NFB site to limit your search for younger audiences.
