This subject may be of interest to you and your students with the 100th anniversary of the sinking of the Titanic coming up on April 15th.

The BBC has some great video clips that are made for educational use. The link above (which includes lesson ideas) has BBC Reporter Mark Simpson “breaking” the news of the sinking of the Titanic in the north Atlantic. An insert describes the ship, the details of its route and passenger numbers. A correspondent in America gives a more detailed report with information about the collision with an iceberg, and the emergency operation. Details are given about some of the passengers and crew, and we see footage of relatives arriving at the White Star Line offices in the hope of more information.
